Below are two slow-motion videos that show the effects of an improperly versus properly worn aviation helmet. Many may find it more comfortable to wear a loose or unfastened chin strap. Others may wear a loose nape or a helmet without a nape. The improperly worn video shows the possible results of such actions in a dynamic sled test. The result is the helmet coming off the user’s head after striking the anthropomorphic test device (ATD, test dummy).
